IMFH | News & Events | 2006: Institute for Maternal-Fetal Health Launches Minimally Invasive Fetal Therapy Program
The Institute for Maternal-Fetal Health is excited to announce the inception of its minimally invasive Fetal Therapy Program led by Program Director Ramen Chmait, MD. Dr. Chmait, who was recently working alongside fetoscopy pioneer Ruben Quintero, MD, joined the USC Perinatal Group and IMFH during the 2006-2007 academic year. He brings with him a level of experience in operative fetal therapy that is unmatched on the West Coast.
Some conditions which now have treatment available through the Fetal Therapy Program include the twin-twin transfusion syndrome, lower urinary tract obstruction, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and the amniotic band syndrome, among others. The addition of Dr. Chmait and the minimally invasive Fetal Therapy Program further broadens IMFH's ability to offer advanced treatments to pregnant mothers and their unborn children with serious pregnancy-related complications.
